Mary Inhea Kang is a South Korean American photographer with a passion for exploring and documenting the identities we create for ourselves and how these identities shape our world. Her work delves into the interplay and boundaries between individualism and collectivism. Inspired by her friend Shiyam Galyon’s sentiment, “I want to live in a world that feels moved by photos of non-white people at their best moments in life, rather than at their worst,” Mary aims to highlight the dignity often missing in mainstream media portrayals of people of color, while still addressing the real challenges faced by marginalized communities.
