Threshold: A Celebration of Crossing

Step into Threshold, a one-night immersive showcase where art, technology, and storytelling converge at the edge of what’s next. Hosted by the Texas Immersive Institute, this year’s showcase transforms the 5th floor of CMA into a living, experiential landscape -inviting you to move beyond observation and into participation. 

Journey through four distinct “thresholds,” each exploring a different kind of crossing - from inner worlds and identity, to living stories and memory, to expansive environments, and speculative futures shaped by AI and emerging technologies. Along the way, you’ll encounter mixed reality installations, spatial soundscapes, interactive media, and immersive experiences that push the boundaries of storytelling. 

Threshold marks a moment of transition: students stepping into their professional futures, research projects launching onto global stages, and a community evolving from experimentation into impact.
