The School of Journalism and Media invites you to "Grief and Grace in Uvalde" - Conversation and Musical Performance.

A conversation featuring photojournalist Tamir Ben Kalifa and Kimberly Mata-Rubio, whose daughter Lexi was one of the 21 children and teachers killed in the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde. The conversation is moderated by Monica Martinez, an award-winning historian from UT and a native of Uvalde.

Tamir will perform three original songs inspired by the stories he's reported. An alumni of the School of Journalism and Media, Tamir is an award-winning photographer whose work is frequently featured in The New York Times and other prominent media outlets.

The conversation and musical performance will be followed by a reception and the opening of an exhibition featuring Tamir's work at the School of Journalism and Media Photo Gallery. The exhibition will be on display until April 2025.

Following the exhibition, the prints will be donated to the Public Library in Uvalde.

This event is free and open to the public.
